Catamount Arts

EPIC Music will begin on Monday, September 8 and end on Thursday, May 28, with a summer camp the last two weeks in June. The 2025-26 EPIC Music faculty includes Jason Bergman, Artistic Director; Roy MacNeil; Dylan Strand; and Ruth Einstein.

EPIC Music accepts students aged 8 and up, whether they attend public or private school or are homeschooled. All beginning students learn to play violin, and may select another instrument (viola, cello, or bass) after a year of participation. Students must be able to commit to at least two days each week for the full year (September through end of May/early June); we highly advise selecting Thursday as one of the days, as that is the day we meet as a full orchestra/pre-orchestra.

EPIC Music is offered Monday through Thursday afternoons. Orchestra/pre-orchestra meets on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:00pm. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays will be devoted to ensemble work (violin ensemble, cello ensemble, mixed ensembles, string quartets). We will also meet on one or more Saturday mornings each month (optional) at York Street Meeting House in Lyndonville, and invite family members and other local strings students and their families to join us.

All instruction will be in large and small groups.

Class fee: $225/first student, 40% off for each additional student

Please complete and submit registration no later than September 2, and space is limited, so spots are available on a first come, first served basis.

2025-26 Schedule

Mondays at St. Johnsbury School (2:45-4:30) -  Large and small ensembles (we will start at 3, after having a snack, but students from other schools who cannot arrive until 3:30 are welcome to join us then)

Tuesdays at Union Baptist Church (3:30-5:00): Large and small ensembles

Wednesdays at St. Johnsbury School (2:45-4:30) -  Large and small ensembles (we will start at 3, after having a snack, but students from other schools who cannot arrive until 3:30 are welcome to join us then)

Thursdays at Union Baptist Church (3:30-5:00): Orchestra and pre-orchestra rehearsal (possibly cello ensemble, Suzuki study, or other special offerings)

Saturdays, 10am-noon (1-2 weeks each month, based on interest) at York Street Meeting House: Special activities, like string quartets, contra dance band, and rock strings.
